JOB SUMMARYReporting to the VP of Engineering, the Manager, Engineering is responsible for supervising the daily functions of the software engineering department and implementing plans for the department.

They work together with other leaders in the company to establish policies and goals for the department.

The Manager, Engineering is accountable for the delivery of work completed by their team, communicating work effort and results, maintaining Jira backlogs and projects and is the owner of metrics for their team.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIESCompletes team objectives by managing staff; planning and evaluating department activities. Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
Lead software development team to develop, document and maintain iGUIDE platform.
Develop and manage software engineering applications utilizing standard development tools.
Collaborates closely with Director, R&D and Product ManagementStimulate hiring, career plans, training, and performance reviews for software engineering team.
Review all documents related to Product requirement and participate in product brainstorming sessions.
Provide employee coaching, mentoring, development, and team building.
Participate actively in Scrum software development process as Scrum Master.
Provide leadership, management, and technical vision to one portion of the engineering team.
Develop and oversee software engineering plans.
Manage all software engineering schedules, budget, and resource allocation.
Manage joint development with 3rd party vendors as well as outsourced development.
Assist software development team to attain optimal team performance through removing non-technical obstacles.
Interact with different members to ensure the successful delivery of each sprint iteration and product release.
Perform other duties, as required.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's (or equivalent) Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical field; or equivalent experience.5+ years of combined software development & technical leadership experience across multiple languages, frameworks, and architectures3+ years in a Manager, Engineering roleREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESDemonstrated track record of leading high-performing teams and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.

Passion for innovation and a commitment to staying at the forefront of emerging technologies and industry trends.
Experience in coaching and mentoring staff using frameworks and best practices. Emotionally intelligent with a passion for building and maintaining psychologically safe teams.

SaaS or Cloud team leadership experienceExcellent written and verbal communication skills, especially translating between the business and EngineeringABOUT PLANITARPlanitar offers cutting-edge hardware and cloud-based SaaS technology for mapping interior spaces across insurance, residential, and commercial real estate sectors.
