Are you an experienced Laboratory Technician with a knack for managing or performing work in some or all of the following areas; laboratory maintenance and administration, 5S, inventory management, assisting Lab Analysts in performing supplemental tasks, ensuring efficient day-to-day laboratory operations as directed by Operations Managers and Senior Analysts.

Responsibilities

  • Follow Health & Safety requirements for Site and Lab.
  • Maintain cleanliness and general organization of laboratory environment. Sustaining and
continually improving 5S.

  • Operate and maintain dishwashing equipment. Cleaning and storing of laboratory glassware and
equipment.

  • Cardboard, broken glass and waste disposal. Sample aliquot disposal. Following all CFIA
requirements.

  • Consumable and chemical supply procurement, receipt, and inventory management. Entering of
reagents and critical supplies into LIMS.

  • Laboratory administration- filing, archiving, labelling etc.
  • Laboratory equipment verification as required. Compressed gas cylinder handling and
changeover.

  • Set up of test apparatus
  • Work as a team player including open and honest communication, respecting confidentiality with
any laboratory information.

  • Other duties as assigned by Line Manager
The MGS R&DS Regional Laboratory @RGU is responsible for the delivery of chemistry operational
testing capability, laboratory governance and consultancy services for all segments of Company's
Incorporated operating in their region. The main customers of the regional lab are Supply
(manufacturing sites), Commercial and R&D functions.

Qualifications
Knowledge/Experience

  • Prior working experience in a laboratory environment is an asset (>3 years preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience and skill with MS o ice (Excel, Word, Outlook priority) and Laboratory
Information Management Systems (LIMS).

  • Excellent organizational skills to adapt to fluctuating workloads while maintaining
appropriate attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
  • Experience with 5S/ lean management systems is required
  • Knowledge of ISO17025 is an asset
Minimum Qualifications

  • Diploma in chemistry, natural or food sciences
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, natural or food sciences
  • Experience with LIMS systems
