Forensic Toxicology Department has an opening for a Quality Analyst on a temporary part-time basis for three months working Monday-Wednesday-Friday in a day shift.

This is a hybrid role.

JOB SUMMARY
Coordinate all metrics and quality activities within Forensic Toxicology. Ensure all QC checks and standards are run as required. Oversee new lot numbers for quality control bias and problems. Assist with bench work as required. Assume specific responsibilities for the department as required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain metric reports for the Toxicology department as requested by managers
  • Ensure quality assurance/quality control standards are maintained as per ISO 17025 and NLCP Guidelines
  • Responsible for QC software administration
  • Responsible to follow all relevant pre and/or post analytical QA protocols as described in the company NQSP manual
  • Contribute towards Dynacare's learning and knowledgebased culture by sharing in the responsibility of training and skill development of new team members as requested
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  • External QC processing and monitoring
  • Answer general lab inquiries
  • Review routine maintenance
  • Assist in preparation for regulatory inspection
  • Conduct Root Cause/Corrective Action analysis on Laboratory errors
  • Lead and/or participate on various projects of a multifunction nature to deliver continuous improvement in the department
  • Maintain confidentiality, accuracy, and filing system for various documents
  • Create and maintain laboratory documents (SOPs, MSDS, MFMs)
  • Act as a resource person for the laboratory staff with the handling of questions and concerns, regarding QC inquiries
  • Ensure that quality control checks are run and reviewed when testing is performed
  • Counting inventory, retrieving data as requested and writing quality control procedures and methods
  • Responsible to protect their own health and safety by reporting hazards and working in compliance with established safe working practices
  • Perform duties in accordance with established company policies and procedures
  • Responsible for disinfecting of work area and equipment when required
  • Other duties as required

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Good working knowledge of QC software and EP Evaluator
  • Familiar with QA and QRI activities in the laboratory
  • Familiar with processing external quality control surveys
  • Familiar with auditing processes in the forensic laboratory
  • Good understanding of CAP and OLA checklist requirements
  • Familiar with requirements for NLCP
  • BSc or MLT
  • CAP and/or OLA inspector training an asset
  • 4 years of related experience

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to interpret of quality control data on a regular basis
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and able to respond to problems as they occur
  • Ability multitask and to perform under pressure while ensuring the integrity of the test results

WORKING CONDITION

  • Some lifting and moving of reagents
  • Perform duties in stationary standing/sitting positions
  • High visual requirements
  • Exposure to biohazardous material on a regular basis
  • Noise from instrumentation upon occasion
