Tasks:
  • Interpret welding process specifications
  • Operate welding equipment manually or with automation
  • Read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings specifications, manuals, and processes
  • Inspect welds to ensure they meet standards and specifications
  • Use flame-cutting equipment manually or semi-automatically
  • Operate metal shaping, straightening, and bending machines such as brakes and shears
  • Fit, braze, and torch-straighten metal
  • Work with oxygen arc cutting equipment
  • Determine the weldability of materials
  • Use welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products
  • Operate brazing or soldering machines to bond metal or fill holes, indentations, and seams
  • Start up, shut down, adjust, and monitor robotic welding production lines
  • Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding, brazing, and soldering equipment
