TBRHSC's Decision Support Group (DSG) enables and encourages the pursuit of excellence by supporting organizational alignment with strategic priorities, quality, effectiveness, efficiency, and innovation.

Reporting to the Manager of Decision Support and Case Costing, the Decision Support Consultant (DS Consultant) works closely with members of senior management, directors, and managers to develop operational plans and budgets in support of TBRHSC's strategic plan.

The DS Consultant also provides analytics support for the organization's strategic plan, performance management cycle and process improvement activities. As well, the DS Consultant mentors and supports development of business acumen within the leadership group.

Education:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Health Informatics, or Information Management.
  • Advanced educational and professional qualifications
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA CA, CPA CMA, CGA)
  • Master's Degree (business or health related) Preferred

Experience:

  • Overall, a minimum of 5 years experience in consulting, performance and data analysis, preferably in a health related field.

Specific demonstrated experience in:

  • Proactively managing initiatives to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Leading project teams full cycle from project initiation to project close.

  • Advanced problem solving, analytical and coaching skills
  • Team player with the ability to influence and persuade
  • Proven ability to work with staff and leaders at all levels of a complex healthcare/service sector organization to bring about improvement and achieve results
  • Ability to work with the multidisciplinary team
  • Proven ability to develop, lead and coordinate cross functional teams to achieve results
  • Politically astute with working knowledge of the health care system
  • Superior skills in data management and manipulation using Excel (pivot tables, advanced filters, lookup functions, develop of macros).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Programs (Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently, multitask and prioritize workload to meet various deadlines

Knowledge:

  • Advanced business acumen
  • Working knowledge of the health care system
  • Advanced knowledge of Ontario Hospital Reporting/Management Information System standards and funding methodologies (HBAM and QBP)
  • Working knowledge of Discharge Abstract Database (DAD), National Ambulatory Care Reporting System (NACRS), and other large data sets (e.g. wait times)
