We are looking for a Technical Officer, Cell Culture to support GMP operations at our at our new Clinical Trial Material Facility with the Human Health Therapeutics (HHT) Research Centre.

Responsibilities will include the provision of technical assistance in the preparation for and the conduct of productions and experiments, recording and organizing data and the maintenance of the laboratory and associated equipment in a GMP/GLP environment.


This technical officer position would appeal to someone who has a passion for working in a controlled laboratory (GMP/GLP) environment, providing their technical support to advance projects and contribute to establishing standard operating procedures.

You would demonstrate ability to take direction and follow established procedures, efficiently document experimental and manufacturing activities and results and you enjoy performing laboratory and manufacturing work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.


Screening Criteria:

Education:

Bachelor in Microbiology, Biotechnology or related field.

Collegial diploma combined with relevant and significant experience may be considered.

Experience:

  • Significant experience preparing and performing technical tasks in a GMP pharmaceutical or biotech production laboratory environment preferably related to vaccines and/or biotherapies
  • Significant work experience in mammalian cell culture
  • Significant experience of work techniques in an aseptic environment.
  • Experience with suspension cell cultures in flasks.
  • Experience operating bioreactors in batch or fed batch mode (pilot scale 50L and above would be an asset)
  • Experience working in containment level 2 would be an asset.

  • Good knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements applied to pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical products
  • Ability to write, review and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), write and manage controlled changes, describe, escalate and report any deviations and write GMP work instructions.
  • Practical knowledge of working techniques in an aseptic environment.
  • Working knowledge of suspension cell culture
  • Knowledge of cell propagation in flask and bioreactor.
  • Knowledge of cell scaling
  • Ability to collaborate in validation studies of production processes and qualification of equipment as needed

Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with the NRC's directives.

Compensation:

From $58,445 to $80,040 per annum.
