Au sein de l'équipe d'ingénierie de plateformes, l'Ingénieur(e) principal(e) définit les tâches d'automatisation complexes et les composants de l'architecture en nuage pour une solution donnée. Votre rôle est de maximiser la vélocité de la plateforme et de l'environnement pour les développeurs en tirant parti d'un état d'esprit et d'une orientation DevOps. Plus précisément, vous devrez :
Défendre la culture DevOps, l'outillage, les méthodes de livraison et les pratiques culturelles au sein de Slalom Build ainsi que chez nos clients.Contribuer à l'estimation des efforts de travail et du story pointing requis pour chaque phase d'un projet agile.Donner des conseils techniques et du mentorat aux pairs, aux ingénieurs moins expérimentés et au personnel du client.Déterminer, qualifier et soulever les risques et les problèmes techniques.Aider à développer notre culture de l'apprentissage en participant et en coordonnant des avantages telles que des présentations lors de conférences techniques, des groupes communautaires, la rédaction d'articles de blog et la contribution à des ateliers coordonnés par des partenairesCette opportunité est basée à notre bureau à Montréal, donc excellente communication en français et en anglais est requise, à l'oral et à l'écrit.

Ce que vous devez apporter
Les Ingénieurs principals de l'équipe d'ingénierie des plateformes apportent une expérience en ingénierie logicielle et DevOps en production sur au moins un cloud public majeur (AWS, GCP, Azure). Nous ferons appel à vos connaissances en matière de conception et de mise en œuvre de pipelines d'intégration et de livraison continues (CI/CD) de bout en bout, ainsi qu'à votre expérience de la gestion de la configuration et de l'infrastructure en tant que code (par exemple, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, etc.) La sécurité est au cœur de toutes nos activités et votre connaissance de la sécurité fondamentale du cloud (par exemple, la gestion de l'identité et de l'accès, les pare-feux, etc).
En tant qu'Ingénieur(e) principal(e), vous collaborerez avec plusieurs équipes fonctionnelles et/ou techniques pour mener à bien un projet basé sur la méthode Agile. Vous pourrez tirer parti de votre mentalité de développeur, de votre enthousiasme à apprendre rapidement de nouvelles technologies et à appliquer les connaissances acquises pour résoudre des problèmes commerciaux concrets pour vos clients. Slalom Build is looking for a Senior Engineer to join our North America team in the Platform Engineering (PE) capability. Our PE engineers build the secure automation capabilities that enable our application and data engineers to unveil their products to the world. Our goal is to create the platform to make a product smart, secure, and fast, while minimizing toil.
You'll be working hands-on in the cloud with some of the newest technologies out there. You'll build in AWS, GCP, and Azure using a wide variety of tools across the DevOps landscape. You name it, we work on it. And so can you.
We offer a flexible working environment to balance the need to work independently, with some days that may require in-person collaboration at our office.
What You'll Do
In PE, a Senior Engineer defines the complex automation tasks and cloud architecture components for a given solution. Your role is to maximize velocity for platform and environment enablement for developers through leveraging a DevOps mindset and focus. Specifically, you will:
Advocate for DevOps culture, tooling, delivery methods, and cultural practices within Slalom Build as well as our clients.Assist with estimating work efforts and story pointing required for each phase of an agile project.Provide technical guidance and mentoring to peers, less experienced engineers, and client personnel.Identify, qualify, and raise technical risks and issues.Help grow our culture of learning by taking part in and coordinating opportunities such as presenting at technical conferences, community groups, writing blog articles, and contributing to partner-coordinated workshopsTravel may be required on a limited basis dependent on your client engagement or internal meetings/events.This opportunity is based in our Montreal office, therefore excellent communication skills in French and English (written and spoken) is required.
Hybrid/In office: We are hybrid but there are expectations that if your team leader requires you onsite that you are able to meet those expectations/requirements
What You'll Bring
Senior Engineers in PE bring experience across software engineering and DevOps in production across at least one major public cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure). We will tap into your knowledge of designing and implementing end-to-end continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines as well as your experience in configuration management and infrastructure as code (e.g., Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, etc.) Security is part of everything we do and will require your knowledge of fundamental cloud security (e.g., identity and access management, firewalls, etc.) as we build for our customers.
As a Senior Engineer you will collaborate across multiple functional and/or technical teams to deliver an Agile-based project. You will be leveraging your growth mentality, bringing enthusiasm about learning new technologies quickly, and applying your gained knowledge to address practical business problems for your customer. Showing your ability to communicate with clients on a business level and translate their needs into technical solutions will be what maximizes velocity for the team.
