What do you offer?


The TRY Women's Supportive Housing Case Managers work as part of the Housing Services Team that provides programs and services for individuals with affordable/social housing needs including short and long-term residents, supportive housing, Family Shelter, Second Stage Housing for youth, counselling and referral.


Some of the tasks of this position include:

Direct Service

  • Providing specific information about the TRY Housing Support Program for Women and general information to individuals and agencies regarding eligibility for housing in the Y's Housing Services.
  • Scheduling and conducting interviews with housing applicants and their supports to assess eligibility and compatibility for the TRY Supportive Housing Program for Women
  • Providing case management and counselling support, crisis intervention and referrals for assigned clients and assists in support services for all TRY clients as required.
  • Providing life skills and social skills workshops.
  • As per the Protecting Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Persons Policy, staff of the YMCA will take allegations of abuse seriously.
  • All staff members are familiar with their duty to report and the procedure for reporting suspected abuse or neglect of a child.

Administrative Duties

  • Reporting statistical data.
  • Assisting with the organization and coordination of special events.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation of events/incidents and records in files, logs or on appropriate forms and communicating information to team members and supervisor as required.
  • Building and maintaining strong partnerships with health (mental and physical) agencies to help residents maintain their housing and address health issues.
  • Maintaining the system(s) of collecting and recording detailed client statistics and preparing reports as required.
  • Building and maintaining links to relevant agencies/services to promote referrals to the TRY Program.
  • Making presentations about the program to referring agencies and collateral services.

Facility Care

  • Maintaining the workplace to ensure a safe and clean working environment,
  • Working with the Maintenance and Housekeeping departments to coordinate the maintenance of rooms and facilities to ensure acceptable standards.
  • Encouraging clients to keep common areas clean and tidy, as well as maintaining their room to an acceptable level of health and safety.
