The Opportunity:


Reporting to Director, Nursing & Professional Practice, the Clinical and Operational Services Manager provides onsite after hours and holiday/weekend coverage for clinical needs and operational services at the IWK Health Centre with remote support for relevant IWK community sites, as needed.

The focus of this role will be on after hours and holidays/weekend support for staffing and patient/clinical flow and operational services to support essential services at the IWK Health Centre.

The role will be the initial contact for units, care teams and onsite support services teams after hours, weekends and holidays and will liaise with role the Director on Call as needed.

The role may also include connects regarding clinical needs and patient access and flow across the system.

Hours of Work:

Shifts include a rotation of:
Monday to Friday Evenings/Nights: 7pm-7am; Holidays, Saturday, and Sunday (day/evening/night) coverage.

Your Qualifications:

  • Relevant Health Related Baccalaureate Degree or Health Discipline Certification; Baccalaureate degree in Nursing/Nursing Sciences would be asset.
  • Registration with appropriate discipline as required for practice and/or licensure in Nova Scotia is required.
  • Minimum of three years of progressive clinical and/or administrative experience in health care management.
  • Clinical experience with utilization and patient flow management practices, methodologies or equivalent knowledge, experience and education is preferred.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills in leadership, communication, decisionmaking, problemsolving and motivation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in current trends in health care practice.
  • Demonstrated effective decision making competency related to patient care management both with respect to engagement of clinical teams and physician leaders as well as administrative clinical leadership.
  • Knowledge of and experience with change management principles and methodologies.
  • Flexibility and ability to work independently as well as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of Administrative Policy/Procedures
  • Must possess the ability to take a leadership role and make independent decisions in various operational and clinical situations, assuring legal and ethical issues are considered and demonstrating diplomacy, tact, creativity, and good judgement in interpersonal relationships in a demanding fast paced environment.
  • Requires the ability to interpret and execute administrative directives in order to act as the executive representative.
