The Opportunity:

We're looking for a Director, Communications and Content to join our Marketing, Communications and Client Experience team.


This can be a remote role, however for those who would like to come into the office we are at 151 Yonge St, Toronto, ON.


Reporting to the VP, Communications, the Director, Communications and Content is responsible for developing a robust content strategy that supports our vision, business objectives and culture by being a gifted content strategist, impeccable writer, and adept editor who will elevate Aviso's products, services, and expertise.

You will be a curious, strategic, and proactive communications and content professional to join Aviso's Communications team—a story-driven centre of excellence that strengthens our business objectives, purpose, and culture with bold narratives; a clean, confident voice; and a value-over-volume philosophy.

Bring your expertise in content strategy, platforms, and best practices; sharp business acumen; and understanding of the Canadian financial services ecosystem to deliver the right story to the right audience at the right time.

What your day looks like:

  • Collaborate with the VP, Communications to develop a robust, narrativedriven content strategy and drive valuefirst, measurable execution
  • Coach and lead a dynamic team of writers and content creators across our platforms, including earned, paid, and owned media
  • Guide the development of bestinclass content, including opeds, articles, remarks, social copy, whitepapers, infographics, video scripts and ad copy to support business line priorities
  • Collaborate with business line marketing colleagues to identify and develop value propositions, narratives, and storytelling opportunities
  • Develop and maintain a collaborative network across Aviso's business lines
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager, Media Relations, and Thought Leadership to optimize Aviso's earned media activities
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive editorial calendar to connect the dots across all communications and content activities, spot opportunities for collaboration, and refine the Aviso voice
  • Monitor the Canadian financial services ecosystem for developments and trends and identify opportunities for Aviso to shape and lead conversations
  • Coach a team of writers to develop a narrativedriven, audiencefirst plain language editorial voice across all of our communications and content
  • Work with marketing colleagues and agency partners to ensure a consistent editorial voice across communications and content activities
  • Bring creativity and innovation to content development—find novel ways to articulate the unique value of Aviso's products, services, and expertise
  • Effectively manage multiple projects at a time and foster collaboration across shared services and business lines

Requirements:

Your experience and skills:

  • A seasoned communications and content leader with 10+ years of experience, including 3+ years in leadership and people management
  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing or another related field; Master's Degree an asset
  • Previous experience in financial services required
  • An experienced and empathetic people manager who leads wit
