Position Details:

Community Disability Worker in our Group Living Department. The Schedule for this position is 24 hours/week Wednesday - Friday, 11:00pm - 7:00am.

Compensation will include a starting hourly rate of $21.19, 4% vacation pay, 5 flex days, mileage is paid at $0.50/km, paid training, benefits to begin after three months probation.

All regular frontline staff are also eligible to take additional casual hours in our Community Access or Group Living Departments outside of their regular hours (availability for casual hours is NOT a requirement - but an option available if staff are interested).

You will work within a team to support adults with autism and developmental disabilities in a group living setting.

With this team you will provide these individuals with direct support to meet their goals and live their lives to the fullest.

The individuals in this home may display physical behaviors of concern so it's important for staff to have a good understanding of each individual support plan and to complete daily documentation and communicate clearly with team members.

Training in CPI, APRP, Med Admin is provided in this role. This position requires staff who are able to drive individuals to appointments and community programs.

With a passion for supporting people with disabilities As AON position, basically staff is expected to be AWAKE during the night in case of emergency situations.

AON staff may be asked to extend hours in the morning or starting earlier the shift in case of staff crisis.

AON staff can be pulled out to help other locations in emergency situations

Daily routines could include:

  • Driving and accompanying individuals to medical appointments and other activities
  • Provide medical, technological, environmental, emotional, physical, and behavioural support
  • Learn the behavioural support plans to better understand client needs
  • Assisting with daily living tasks such as grocery shopping, cooking meals, helping with laundry
  • Supporting clients with needs that could include using lifts, gtubes, or providing personal care
  • Accompanying clients with different physical activities like going to the gym, going swimming, or going on walks
  • Participating in research, planning, development, and implementation of client programs
  • Completing required documentation, or reporting

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Canadian Certificate/Diploma in the Human Services sector (equivalencies will be considered, programs completed internationally may require a WES or IQAS assessment)
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Class 5 drivers license & Reliable vehicle must be willing to have $2,000,000 liability insurance by the time of hire.
  • Must be comfortable driving within the city.
  • Comfortable supporting a variety of individuals with different diagnoses, abilities, or behaviours

Preferred Requirements:

  • Oneyear relevant experience in the human services field is preferred
  • Previous experience with Autism or Developmental Delays
  • Previous experience working with individuals with dual diagnoses is preferred
  • Knowledge on community supports & resources available
  • Current trainings including First Aid/CPR, Medication Administration, Nonviolent crisis intervention, Abuse Prevention Response Protocol, Positive Behaviour Supports, etc.


Covid-19 Vaccination Policy - New Age Services Inc does require proof of full vaccination (minimum of two doses) to be submitted before hire date or proof of accepted exemption.
