Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is seeking team-oriented professional Anesthesiologists to join our dynamic and expanding Department of Anesthesiology in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.

The Department of Anesthesiology has an excellent complement of specialist Anesthesiologists with diverse interests. Successful candidates will join our team to provide comprehensive anesthesiology service to the patients of southern Saskatchewan.

Our services are shared between two sites. The Regina General Hospital is our trauma center representing all major surgical specialties, except transplant. Regina General Hospital Anesthesiologists provide full obstetric service. The Pasqua Hospital is a community hospital and referral center specializing in Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, General Surgery and Urology.

Elective OR runs from 07:45 to 16:00hrs. Our goal for Regina is to routinely operate 18 surgical theatres. Capacity is managed to allow for reduced theatres during holiday periods, allowing physicians and staff greater vacation opportunities. Call is 1:5 to 1:6 depending on holiday requests.

Physicians have the opportunity to teach undergraduate and post-graduate education at the University of Saskatchewan (USask). The USask campus is located on the shores of the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon, a city with a diverse and thriving economic base and a vibrant cultural life. USask is a research-intensive institution with 22,000 students and 7,000 faculty and staff, and a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. It is home to the newly constructed Academic Health Sciences Complex and two of the largest science projects in the country – the Canadian Light Source synchrotron and the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization/International Vaccine Centre. A users group is available for collaborative research with clinical faculty using the $173.5 million Canadian Light Source synchrotron, owned by the University of Saskatchewan.

This opportunity may be eligible to receive the Anesthesiology Recruitment and Retention Incentive of up to $100,000

May be eligible to receive a C$25,000 relocation allowance.

Job Qualifications

Successful candidates will hold certification from the in Anesthesiology. Applicants will be eligible for provisional or regular licensure from the to practice in Saskatchewan.

Candidates should be a team players, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care.

In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to participate in the undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education programs of the Department of Anesthesiology in the Regina Area.
