Principal Function:

Responsible for the daily operations of Public Security.
Key Responsibilities

  • 1. Enforce municipal bylaws pertaining to parking, public nuisance, garbage and animal control.
  • 2. Inform and/or issue tickets to violators of bylaws.
  • 3. Move or have vehicle moved when it is contravening a bylaw or obstructing traffic circulation (snow removal).
  • 4. Patrol and do inspection of municipal buildings and parks.
  • 5. Patrol, by vehicle, the public streets and offstreets to identify infractions to municipal bylaws and take appropriate measures when necessary.
  • 6. Do traffic control, when required.
  • 7. Respond to residents' concerns, complaints and requests.
  • 8. Gather relevant proof and build files that are likely to involve legal proceedings.
  • 9. Deliver and pick up mail and run errands when requested by superiors.
  • 10. Follow instructions relating to the verification of vacant homes, parking permits, alarms.
  • 11. Enforce procedures and instructions proposed by superiors.
  • 12. Do followup of complaints, requests and other security problems.
  • 13. Prepare a written daily report and others (reports) at superior's request.
  • 14. Be a witness at court of justice, as may be required.
  • 15. Undertake any other related duties.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Education: High School Diploma
  • Grade V
  • Experience: Security background
  • Other: Bilingualism
  • Driver's licence, Class 4A
  • No criminal record
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions
  • Available for shift work, including weekends
  • Well spoken, diplomatic
  • N.B. You may be required to submit to a written competency test
