GFL Environmental is currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator with a class three license to be part of our team in Fort McMurray AB.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely operating and/or having the capability to operate various equipment such as excavators, front loaders, bulldozers, or other heavy equipment to bale, load, and move waste materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate necessary equipment to bale and load waste or other materials into trailers
  • Steer, guide, and drive equipment using steering wheel, shifters, levers, buttons, and pedals
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers regarding work activities and priorities
  • Comply with laws, regulations, ordinances, company policies, and directives

Requirements:

  • Hold a Class 3 license
  • Ability to obtain Transfer Station/Landfill Operations Certification if required
  • Follow instructions and work with little supervision
  • Utilize common sense to solve problems in a standardized setting
  • Perform basic math functions and interpret equipment gauges
  • Capability to lift/push/pull weights up to specified limits
