is a General Petroleum Contractor based out of Spruce Grove, AB, specializing in the Downstream Oil and Gas and Commercial Industry.

We seek a
Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter to join our growing Petroleum Construction team.

Tasks will be related to rebuilding and constructing structures for renovations, providing new construction, redevelopment, facility maintenance services and installations throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario.


Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with the creation of blueprints and manufacturing specifications.
  • Observe and comply with all health and safety regulations and ensures any apprentices under your direction comply.
  • Framing, including doors and windows.
  • Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment.
  • Keep a daily log of tasks.
  • Respect and respond to directions given.
  • Prepare estimates for work orders and request materials required to complete the job.
  • Perform Drywall boarding and interior floor finishes work.
  • Ensure an adequate material supply is available for the preventative maintenance program.
  • Craning of modular buildings
  • Handle and transport job materials to the work area as needed.
  • Guide and teach apprentices, ensuring they are performing tasks correctly.
  • Perform other related duties, including minor duties of other trades where certification is not required, and the work does not exceed your own limitations.
  • Understand and comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Promote, execute, and adhere to the company's safety program and encourage all employees, subcontractors, and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.

Position Requirements & Skills

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of safe operation of carpentry tools.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
  • Ability to operate required equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Time management skills.
  • Requires the ability to climb ladders for heights of up to 60 feet and crawl for distances of 50 feet.
  • Job requires working with tools, lumber, and materials.
  • Hazards associated with the construction industry.
  • Ability to read building specifications, blueprints, and asbuilds.
  • Ability to draw appropriate sketches to communicate details to team members and others.
  • Mathematical and analytical skills are necessary for material and labour estimates.
  • Receptive to change can adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Makes suggestions for improvement.
  • Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current.
  • Respect diversity treat others with respect.
  • Travel as required to cover assigned Region/Subregion and is accessible during off hours, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Job requires performing tasks in all construction project areas and aspects.
  • Current Red Seal/Journeyman Carpenter's Certificate.
  • 57 years of experience as a Carpenter.
  • 57 years of experience working in residential/commercial construction
