Description:

Our cafes have multiple touch points within them from the moment a customer walks in, to when they leave.

We have designed them to provide a seamless experience for our customers to flow through and to reduce the thinking that they need to do.

It is your role as a barista and team of baristas to host and guide each customer through their journey in our stores - to make them feel at home and welcome, to make their experiences informative and personalized, delightful and memorable and to connect them to the people and places that our product comes from.


Primary Accountabilities:
Operational

  • Demonstrates the ability to open + close the cafe autonomously
  • Demonstrates the ability to prepare our retail beverage menu efficiently, effectively and consistently with excellence
  • Completes daily and monthly tasks
  • Recognises when prep needs to be completed and completes it.
  • Keeps the cafe stocked throughout the day
  • Keeps workstation, cafe and bathroom clean, tidy and restocked at all times (including rushes)
Coffee Knowledge

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of extraction theory as well as an ability to dial in a coffee on all brew methods used in service
  • Demonstrates the ability to share our coffee stories and our coffee's attributes/characteristics with coworkers and customers
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of our supply chain, traditional specialty coffee supply chains and commodity supply chains
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of different brew methods (especially aeropress)
  • Utilizes basic troubleshooting guidelines for product and equipment
Customer Experience

  • Greets all customers with eye contact, smile and warm tone of voice as soon as they walk into our cafe
  • Demonstrates the ability to guide our customers through our space at all touch points
  • Demonstrates the ability to anticipate the needs of our customers and to always exceed them
  • Demonstrates the ability to engage our customers in an approachable, informative and educational way creating awareness and connection to our supply chain
  • Demonstrates the ability to talk about our subscription service and a thorough understanding of instore pick up cycles and processes
  • Guides our customers through what our offerings are including grab n go, pastries and retail beverage menu
  • Demonstrates an ability to navigate challenging customers with equanimity
Communication/Teamwork

  • Communicates directly, respectfully, constructively and positively with management at all times
  • Communicates directly, respectfully, constructively and positively with coworkers at all times
  • Keeps availability in wheniwork updated at all times
  • Uses the appropriate onshift communication tools including the daily sheet, binder and/or whiteboard
  • Shows up to work on time every time
  • Aligns with our work culture expectations as per our Code of Conduct

Wage:
Starting Barista Wage is $15.50

Vacation:

  • 2 weeks paid vacation (accumulated 4% of hours worked).
  • 3 weeks paid vacation (accumulated 6% of hours worked) after 3 consecutive years working with us.
