POSITION OVERVIEW:

ABC Recycling Ltd. (ABC) is seeking a Mobile Torch Burner to join our growing team. You will be responsible for cutting over-sized pieces of scrap metal to marketable size using oxy/propane fuelled cutting torches. Typically, these large pieces are too thick or too large to be processed effectively with mobile or stationary shears. This full time, year-round, mobile position will require you to travel across B.C. and AB to service our job sites on a regular basis. As such, you will also have opportunities for increased earnings through overtime and site-based project work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely layouts scrap in operating area.
  • Sets up and maintain oxy acetylene/ propane torches.
  • Cuts large or too thick pieces of metal into customer specifications.
  • Ensures fire prevention and follow safety guidelines.
  • Communicates with fellow workers in a professional manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous burner and/or labourer experience.
  • Experience running a bobcat, forklift and/or a torch/plasma cutter in a related industry is considered an asset.
  • Flexibility with work shifts and ability to travel frequently.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Dexterity the job is physically demanding.
  • Attention to detail and a focus on safety are constantly required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 30lbs.
  • Must be able to stand on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Willingness to work in an outdoor environment (rain or shine).
