The Red Chris Mobile Maintenance team is now hiring for the Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic role, offering a competitive hourly rate of $55.14 along with additional perks.

This Fly In, Fly Out opportunity operates on a two weeks in, two weeks out rotation.

Purpose of the Role

Safely conduct scheduled and unscheduled tasks to enhance equipment availability and contribute to the Mobile Maintenance Team's efficiency.

Overhaul, repair, and maintain all mechanical components of heavy commercial and industrial vehicles, including mounted equipment, heavy and light machinery, and stationary power units with intricate hydraulic systems and diesel engines.

Accountabilities

  • Dedication to uphold all Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Inspects, diagnoses, repairs, and tests engine components, steering, and braking systems.
  • Overhauls and assembles mechanical components such as clutches, transmissions, and axle assemblies.
  • Repairs suspension systems, frames, wheels, and tracks.
  • Handles winches, power take-offs, pumps, booms, cables, blades, and buckets.
  • Maintains and repairs electrical components like alternators, starters, and relays.
  • Utilizes computers for work orders, troubleshooting, and inputting information.
  • Enhances operations, reduces repair times, and streamlines work processes.
  • Interprets technical manuals and warranty requirements.
  • Trains and mentors apprentices.
  • Performs other relevant duties as needed.
About you

Minimum qualifications

  • Heavy Duty Mechanic Red Seal Journeyperson Trade Certificate.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the field.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license, Class 3 with air brakes endorsement preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of Commercial trucks, Caterpillar, Hitachi, and other equipment brands.
  • Familiarity with various heavy machinery like P&H XPB shovel, Sandvik drills, and more.

Additional Requirements

  • Understanding of engine operating principles, safety precautions, and heavy-duty power trains.
  • Ability to interpret and execute instructions and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency in using a variety of tools and equipment.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, MS teams, and SAP is a plus.
