  • The
    _Velocity Program_ is not your average internship or coop This is a customized experience that focuses on providing you with the development and tools you need to grow your career.   • The
    _Activate New Graduate Development Program_ will provide you with experiences that build a foundation for you to become a future leader, accelerating your career journey from day one. As an Associate in the Activate, GRM stream you will spend 18months rotating to predetermined areas that will challenge you. You'll gain a wellrounded view of the entire organization, while gaining practical experience, focused on highimpact projects within your business line.

What is Global Risk Management?

About the GRM, Business Banking Credit Risk Stream:

The Business Banking Credit Risk teams provide credit adjudication and risk oversight for an assigned portfolio within Global Banking & Markets (GBM), Canadian Commercial Banking (CCB) and International Banking (IB) by ensuring that the portfolio is maintained in sound condition with the Bank's current credit policy.


About the GRM, Enterprise Risk Stream:

GRM's Enterprise Team provide 2nd line governance and oversight to our business lines and support function partners in managing their non-financial risks across many categories.

The risk domains you'll directly cover are non-financial risks, which would include Operational Risk, Third Party Risk, Model Risk and Environmental Risk where the team drives methodology and provides 2nd line oversight and challenge.


About the GRM, Financial Crimes Risk Stream:

The Financial Crimes Risk Management (FCRM) Team provides oversight over the banks Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorist Financing, and sanctions compliance program, including design and effective implementation.

The program is designed to mitigate the risks of Scotiabank products or services being used for prohibited activities; and ensure compliance with the laws and regulations applicable to the bank.


About the GRM, Market Risk Stream:
The Market Risk stream provides risk oversight for the trading and treasury portfolio in GBM and Group Treasury.

Working in close collaboration with the business line, our Market Risk teams ensure various market risks are understood, controlled, and communicated.

This involves reviewing risk limits and strategies, including new products.

About the GRM, Retail Credit Risk Stream:

The Retail Credit Risk stream is comprised of multiple areas including Risk Technology, Retail Risk Secured Lending and Small Business, and Retail Risk Data and Analytics.

Across these areas, teams work on data manipulation, risk technology project work, customer analytics and portfolio management all with a credit risk perspective.

This includes analyzing the effectiveness of risk strategies, performing portfolio trend analysis, and pulling, summarizing, and presenting data. In each of these rotations, you will have regular interactions with senior management.

  • You are working towards completion of an undergraduate, post-graduate certificate, MBA or Masters program in Risk Management, Finance, Economics or related discipline with an expected graduation date prior to June 202
  • You are passionate about launching your career in Risk Management through the Activate Program after graduation.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with financial statement analysis, financial concepts, and accounting principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of Python, SQL, VBA, MS Office.
