About the Role

As a 3rd Engineer, Fleet Maintenance, you will execute the day-to-day repair maintenance of vessel machinery and systems on our two high-speed craft.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the reliability of our vessels and ensure their safe and efficient performance for seamless connection between Vancouver Mainland and Nanaimo.

This role is primarily shift work days, evening and weekends with the flexibility to build operational days onboard the vessel accrue sea time while working towards 2nd Engineering Motor certificate.

The ideal candidate would be an individual seeking hands-on engineering experience with an ability to accrue sea time with an innovative and growing company.

During this time build knowledge and skills to aid and assist in moving forward to achieving their 2nd Engineer Certificate within 1-2 years.

Responsibilities
The role reports to Technical Superintendent and collaborates daily with Chief Engineers and Maintenance team.

The primary role of 3rd Engineer, Fleet Maintenance is to carry out planned and preventative maintenance of Hullo's two high-speed passenger ferries.

Lead operational shut-down activities including bunkering of fuel and potable water, and discharge of black water.
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on engines, generators, pumps, valves, and other mechanical components
Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues
Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure a safe and organized working environment
Follow all safety procedures and work instructions while working onboard vessels and in workshop settings
Provide accurate records of maintenance and repair activities
Manage inventory of spare parts and supplies
Participate in training programs to enhance technical skills and knowledge
Adhere to company policies and regulations, as well as relevant industry standards and guidelines
Required certificates
~ Transport Canada 3rd Class certificate

Desirable Experience
Previous experience in water j et propulsion systems
Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively in a team environment
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions
Ability to maintain high safety standards
Ability to climb and go down ladders and work in machinery spaces
Willingness to travel and work on different vessels as required
Good communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with team members and supervisors
Ability to lift 50 lbs and use lifting tools
Ability to squat, bend, stoop for working on machinery spaces
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
