The Field Engineering Co-op Student will work with 1-2 Field Engineers to help improve processes within Field Operations. They will examine existing processes and develop new processes to improve safety and performance.

Who You Are:

  • You enjoy working with data and have demonstrated experience with spreadsheets (Excel)
  • You get along with a diverse group of people and are comfortable working independently and in team settings
  • You are resourceful and hold strong problemsolving capabilities
  • Ability to meet tight timelines while ensuring accuracy

Responsibilities:

  • Provide design and engineering support for new automated and existing operations, with focus on productivity improvement and maximizing return on capital investments
  • Employ work measurement to assist operational improvements
  • Execute timely analysis to track KPIs identified by a range of different stakeholders
  • Support the development of short and longterm planning including automated network design and optimization, terminal cost modeling and Service and Visibility initiatives
  • Help improve processes within daily routines to improve operational efficiency
  • Identify the root cause of an operational bottlenecks or safety incidents
  • Use data to identify inefficiencies and design solutions
  • Research, plan, and present a project that could make a lasting impact on the facility and potentially the entire network
Required skills

  • Currently enrolled in the 3rd year of an accredited Industrial or Mechanical Engineering program
  • Understanding of Work Measurement, Ergonomics, Systems Design, Data Analytics, KPI Reporting
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Highly proficient PC skills including CAD, MS Excel, Access and Visio. Querying skills (SQL) a strong asset.
  • Selfmotivated, capable of managing multiple projects and strong data mining skills
  • Valid driver's licence
  • Travelling between Ontario terminals and travel within Canada may be required
  • Bilingual (an asset)
