About the Role


The Machine Learning Scientist is a vital member of the Advanced Technology Team, contributing to Amii's reputation for scientific excellence and offering valuable insights in their field of expertise.


The Machine Learning Scientist (MLS) leverages their scientific knowledge and research experience to lead the R&D efforts of Amii Industry Partners and Clients, bridging the gap between business opportunities and core ML techniques. They provide scientific oversight on technical projects, advising on project scoping, defining machine learning initiatives, and guiding companies through the Machine Learning Process Lifecycle (MLPL).

This includes strategic decision-making on data requirements, testing modeling techniques, resource allocation, and establishing success metrics.

The MLS also plays a key role in mentoring junior team members, ensuring the delivery of exceptional talent for industry partner projects.The primary focus of the role encompasses three core responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with Amii clients to enhance their ML projects and capabilities

Required Skills / Expertise

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fulfilling ML science requirements in a designated product stream
  • Supervising and mentoring early career ML interns, residents, and associate MLSs on project work and professional growth
  • Providing guidance to industry partners on ML projects
  • Generating technical reports
  • Delivering technical presentations
  • Utilizing exploratory data analysis and ML modeling techniques
  • Collaborating with clients, fellows, and team members on research publications

Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in Machine Learning or relevant field with equivalent ML experience
  • 2+ years of industrial experience in developing, training, and evaluating ML models
  • Proficiency in Jupyter notebooks and Github environments; adept in Python-based ML and Deep Learning frameworks (e.g. Scikitlearn, Pytorch, Tensorflow, Keras, Transformers, and pandas)
  • Track record of publications in peer-reviewed academic conferences or journals
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Comprehensive understanding of various ML techniques - supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning
  • Up-to-date knowledge in specialized areas
  • Familiarity with current trends in LLMs and open-source platforms
- (Nice to have): Experience with Large Language Models (LLM) and Generative AI (GAI) development or optimization
