Northrop Grumman Aeronautics System's Avionics Integration organization has an opening for a Principal Electronics Engineer (Communications Hardware) or Senior Principal Electronics Engineer (Communications Hardware).

This position will be responsible for working within an integrated product team (IPT) structure to perform engineering capture, build, integration, test, and maintenance of communications hardware in laboratory and field settings.

This includes the specification and usage of specialized test and support equipment.
Design of rack-based communication, test, support equipment, and cabling to meet system requirements, to include:
Perform electrical and mechanical (signal, power & thermal) analysis at the rack level
Generation of engineering drawings in accordance with ASME and IEEE standards, including rack assembly drawings, interconnect wiring diagrams and custom cable assemblies
Production and fielding of hardware, to include:
Installation of communication, test and support equipment in lab and field environments
Providing lab and site integration, test, and maintenance support
Participate in troubleshooting systems to resolve complex issues, interact and coordinate with responsible communications engineers responsible for sustaining communication sub-systems
Management of production environment and engineering teams:
Support Project Engineer functions to include management of budget, cost, and schedule

This position can be filled at either the Principal Electronics Engineer (Communications Hardware) or Senior Principal Electronics Engineer (Communications Hardware) level, depending upon the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Electronics Engineer (Communications Hardware):
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field from an accredited university with 5 years of relevant engineering experience; OR a Master's Degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant engineering experience; OR a PhD in STEM with 0 years of relevant engineering experience
Must have experience with drawing and release tools - (such as CATIA V5, Visio, Teamcenter Enterprise)
Ability to obtain and maintain access to Special Programs (SAP).

This SAP must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Electronics Engineer (Communications Hardware):
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field from an accredited university with 9 years of relevant engineering experience; OR a Master's Degree in STEM with 7 years of relevant engineering experience; OR a PhD in STEM with 4 years of relevant engineering experience
Must have experience with drawing and release tools - (such as CATIA V5, Visio, Teamcenter Enterprise)
Ability to obtain and maintain access to Special Programs (SAP).

This SAP must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an aptitude to learn new material quickly
Self-directed technical performer with demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary technical trades, and ability to develop and execute to a strategy
Working knowledge of various communication protocols including Ethernet, 1553 bus systems and FibreChannel
Working knowledge of communication engineering theory and RF systems
