What you'll do:
Reporting to the Satellite Director, this position is responsible for coordinating the workshop workflow, ensuring delivery schedules are met, providing advice on production methods, procedures, processes, and assigning tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the resolution of production problems by working with the appropriate stakeholders to identify root causes in order to provide longterm solutions in the field of production.
- Coordinate daytoday and hourtohour labor needs by reviewing daily production, Takt requirements, and matching appropriate personnel to production, ensuring capacity plans meet delivery deadlines.
- Communicate process issues and opportunities to staff in and across the production area by facilitating onthejob meetings, encouraging communication with and between staff to ensure continuous improvement and limited production interruption.
- Report production progress to relevant parties, e.g. satellite director, shipping, marketing, updating production schedules/plans/Takt plans to ensure production progress and delays are communicated to the relevant personnel.
- Maintain and control an adequate inventory of tools for employees by requesting any need for tools and/or supplies for employees through the appropriate process to ensure that tools and supplies for employees are available.
- Support the promotion of quality and productivity goals by clarifying quality standards and objectives to production employees, as well as monitoring and improving systems in place to maximize quality and productivity.
- Review drawings, IMs, and special material requirements, verifying their accuracy and ensuring that the necessary drawings, materials, and tools are available prior to commencing assembly. Provide technical guidance and instruction by monitoring production to ensure compliance with specified methods and procedures, CSA, UL rules, electrical codes and standards during the production process.
- Support sitespecific employment practice guidelines, e.g. attendance, punctuality, timeoff requests, etc. As required, communicate sitespecific guidelines to employees and manage exceptions to ensure that these guidelines are followed consistently. Perform production administrative functions, e.g., overtime/attendance tracking, defective material tracking, labor reservation, etc., as required, retrieving information, entering data into appropriate systems, and ensuring the availability and accuracy of data required by stakeholders.
- Support material flow efficiency by monitoring the Kanban process, as appropriate, to ensure compliance with materials personnel and ensure appropriate transactions to support inventory accuracy. Support safety and 5S standards by keeping equipment and work areas in a clean, organized, and tidy state.
- Train production employees. From new hires to productionrelevant information transfers. Support floor and office staff during physical inventories. Make account accuracy a priority.
- Participate in the costout program to develop better working practices and solutions to reduce production costs.
Qualifications:
Required Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- 35 years of experience in a similar role
- Forklift Certification
Skills:
- Effective Communication/Interpersonal Skills
- Able to work in a team with mínimal supervision.
- Knowledge/experience with basic wiring diagram symbols
- Knowledge/experience with hand and power tools
- Reading and mathematical comprehension skills
- Basic computer skills
- Demonstrate continuous learning through crosstraining, acquiring new skills, and refreshing previous skills.
- Understand the production scheduling process and material planning for all orders.
