The normal work schedule is on a rotation of 4 weeks: 2 weeks worked (77 hours per week, 7 days a week) followed by 2 weeks of rest.

Responsibilities
The Underground Mining Trainer reports to the Training Supervisor

His main responsibilities are:

  • Identifies training needs and strategies based on health and safety improvements and underground equipment or vehicle techniques;
  • Develops training plans according to the standards and characteristics of the various equipment and vehicles;
  • Participates in the creation of training materials (technical documentation, audiovideo support, etc.) and defines the teaching aids and tools required for training;
  • Participates in the individual development plan of employees.
  • Ensures the proper conduct of technical training on underground mining equipment.
  • Collaborates in the drafting of internal policies and procedures related to his field of activity, more specifically in relation to the Northern Highway Code and the use of heavy equipment and service vehicles;
  • Collaborates with other departments in the implementation and/or maintenance of various underground training projects;
  • Provides training to employees and contractors based at the site;
  • Produces reports and statistics required for the training department.

Qualifications

  • DEC or DEP in mineral extraction or any other training with equivalent experience;
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a trainer in an underground mining operation;
  • Hold the modular training of the mining worker;
  • Possess a valid driver's license and explosives license;
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office software and other training platforms.

Assets

  • Mining module trainer certification (an important asset).
  • Multiple knowledge (equipment, Jumbo, bolter, Scoop, Scissors, anfo truck, etc);
  • Experience with Inuit communities.
  • Bilingualism in French and English (spoken and written).
