The Opportunity:


The Police Communications Operators are primarily the first point of contact for all incoming telephone calls (non-emergency and administrative) into the RCMP detachment from the public, Municipal Enforcement Officers, and all other third party clients.

The position utilizes and is responsible for maintaining all relevant police databases, computer related software and communication devices.

The purpose of this role is to triage all requests for service to determine the appropriate follow up or action required and plays a critical role in Municipal Enforcement Officer safety.


  • Grade 1
  • Must have 3 years' of direct related experience in a Police communications environment; may consider 3 years' related experience in emergency communications.
  • National RCMP Telecommunications Operator Course would be an asset.
  • Ability to pass RCMP Security Clearance prior to receiving an offer of employment
  • Must maintain RCMP Security Clearance throughout employment
  • Ability to type 50wpm accurately
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete tested course in RCMP PROS User Course, RCMP CPIC Maintenance Course, RCMP Records Information Manager Course, National Telecommunications Operator Course
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete Police Communications Operator training
  • Must be able to work shift work, including evenings and weekends.

Remuneration:

$32.66 to $34.58 per hour.

Hours of Work**:

Hours of work as schedule with no minimum guarantee. Availability required for days, evenings and weekends. Shifts are scheduled between the hours of 8:00am - 10:00pm.

Additional Information:

Must successfully pass a stringent RCMP Security Clearance before commencing employment. If you currently have the required clearance, please indicate it clearly in your resume.
