JOB SUMMARY
Provides overall administrative and technical expertise and support for execution of multiple construction projects. Accountable for safety, quality, schedule, budget, and profitability performance. Oversees the project team and maintains excellent stakeholder relationships.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Creates and influences the safety culture by leading by example as a mentor and model
  • Supervises the entire construction process from project award to closeout to ensure project is constructed as per contract, design, budget, quality, and schedule
  • Chairs project meetings and ensures minutes are properly prepared, reviewed and issued
  • Conducts review of design documentation, leveraging the necessary team members, seeking resolution with respect to compliance, scope change, optimization, code requirements, safety, construction sequencing, and constructability
  • Assists clients with value engineering proposals for functionality, cost, and schedule if required
  • Assists in the development of the project execution plan with the Site Superintendent
  • Coordinates, monitors, and manages change orders and internal deliverables schedule
  • Participates in reviews of railing shop drawings leveraging the assistance of other team members for compliance with scope, constructability, and manufacturing capabilities
  • Reviews jobsite status reports for safety, schedule, and budget concerns
  • Provides weekly project health report out to ownership
  • Oversees and verifies progress preparation payments to clients and subcontractors
  • Understands, and actively manages client expectations, contract, and relationships
  • Initiates, oversees, negotiates, and issues subcontracts and major purchase orders, and monitors their progress and schedule
  • Supervises, directs, coaches, trains, and mentors project team
  • Obtains change order authorizations as per agreement and analyzes its impact on the schedule
  • Assists site superintendents in resolving constructability and site coordination issues
  • Develops and oversees overall project closeout including document archival, warranty and maintenance manuals, and holdback billing
  • Develops and oversees continuous improvement process (project postmortem)
  • Stays current with industry practices, seeks new innovative construction methods and initiatives
  • Ensures all owner, client, and project policies, procedures and standards are followed
  • Critically evaluates information from company operations and supports departments and challenges the process as needed
  • Identifies and manages risk and opportunities on construction projects
  • Develops and maintains strong customer focused relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers
  • Assists in recruiting new team members

QUALIFICATIONS
Education

  • Postsecondary diploma or degree in a related field such as architecture, construction, building science, engineering, or management
Experience

  • Minimum 35 years of project management experience in a construction related discipline
  • 13 years of experience in the railings industry would be an asset
  • Intermediate knowledge of construction law, building codes and contract documents

Skills:

  • In depth knowledge of construction industry and company operations, including building materials, construction specifications, methods and procedures, and safety and quality management practices
  • Knowledge of diverse project types, delivery and construction methods and sequencing
  • Superior planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize team tasks for prompt execution
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing others
  • Demonstrated experience in leading effective project meetings with consultants
  • Thorough understanding of insurance, bonding, and legal requirements
