THE OPPORTUNITY


Western Forest Products is seeking a
Production Supervisor Trainee to join our
Mid Island Forest Operations for a 4-month fixed term contract starting in May 2023.


Work Environment:

This position is to be performed in person at our Mid Island Forest Operations located in Menzies Bay, BC.

This position runs on a 6x3 shift, 12-13 hours per day.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Production Supervisor Trainee is assigned to work closely with a Woods Foreman or General Foreman to learn and participate in activities related to wood-flow processes, as well as assist Production Supervisors achieve safety, sustainability and supervisory duties including:

  • Assisting in development of yarding plans, coordination and optimization of loading fiber
  • Coordination and optimization of hauling fibre
  • Help ensure hourly employees' compliance with safety, operational, and environmental policies
  • Assist in ongoing improvement of production phase metrics
  • Assist in coordinating road construction activities and supervision

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • 12 years of experience in a Forestry Coop or Field planner positions an asset;
  • Postsecondary Degree or Diploma in Forestry or related degree in Natural Resource Management;
  • Eligible for accreditation with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (RPF or RFT)
