What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role, you will:

  • Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) policies, programs and processes
  • Identify existing and new processes, tools, language and materials such as policies, guides, frameworks and other program design strategies
  • Identify, assess and prepare for potential issues that may impact an organization's operations, objectives, and financial stability.
  • Identify, research and analyze strategic and operational issues
  • Lead and coordinate the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans for all functions, including consulting with senior management teams to identify individual/functional needs and opportunities
  • Lead and coordinate the development and implementation of strategies for program evaluation and performance measurement throughout the Ministry
  • Evaluate the potential for success of innovative management practices in the ministry, and evaluate/validate proposals and initiatives, and develop and implement strategic learning and development plans to support success of these initiatives
  • Monitor and analyze critical issues, and lead and coordinate preparation of responses to a full range of requests for the Deputy Minister and Assistant Deputy Ministers; and act as a liaison between the Deputy Minister's Office, Divisional offices and branches, and Central Agencies to mange and resolve urgent and sensitive matters and issues.

How do I qualify?:

Change Management:

  • You can develop and execute change management (i.e., including risk management) strategies to align with organizational initiatives and projects.
  • You can effectively collaborate with crossfunctional teams to assess change impacts and devise mitigation strategies.
  • You have the ability to design and implement communication plans to ensure stakeholders understand the benefits and reasons behind changes.
  • You have the ability to coordinate critical issues, monitor, analyse and provide resolution strategies

Interpersonal and Communication:

You have:

  • Consultation, influencing and relationship management skills to gain management and stakeholder confidence and support and lead interdivisional teams
  • Communications, influencing and negotiation skills to lead/contribute to issues management and resolution activities, and ensure resolution and appropriate report back for briefing and strategic planning purposes
  • Presentation and persuasion skills, to provide ongoing advice and recommendations
  • Facilitation skills, to coordinate a range of initiatives

Analytical and Problem-Solving:

  • You can lead and manage improvement initiatives related to the analysis of business and service enhancements
  • You can gather information from branches/offices on emerging issues, impending announcements, releases and major events affecting the branch/division and ensures proper delegation

Program Evaluation and Project Management:

  • You have experience leading program evaluations using sound evaluation theory and techniques, developing recommendations to improve program policy, operations and outcomes, and successfully implementing program changes
  • You have project planning and management skills, and knowledge of project life cycle methodologies (such as agile and agilewaterfall hybrid) and standards, needed to lead and participate in major projects
  • You have experience with strategic and business planning, performance measurement and program evaluation in order to take a leadership role in program development and delivery
