  • Terms of Employment: Permanent, full time, flexible schedule with the ability to work day and late-night shifts.
  • Salary: $18.50 per hour, 40 hours per week, and meal subsidy.
  • Food discount on shifts worked.
  • Anticipated start date: As soon as possible.
  • Location: Cactus Coal Harbour 1085 Canada Pl, Vancouver, BC V6C 3E1.Kitchen Supervisor Job duties include and not limited to:
  • Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods.
  • Cut, prepare and marinate food to recipe.
  • Follow proper plate presentation that meets standards.
  • Ensure inventory of food and supplies.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the work environment and station.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of Cactus products and menu offerings. and help determine related food and labour costs.
  • Train kitchen partners in job duties, and sanitation and safety procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with provincial/territorial food safe procedures.
  • Supervise, coordinate and schedule the activities of kitchen partners who prepare, portion and serve food.
  • Estimate and order ingredients and supplies required for meal preparation.
  • Prepare food order summaries for Chef according to requests from guests.
  • Establish work schedules and procedures.
  • Maintain records of stock, repairs, sales and wastage.
  • Supervise and check assembly of take-out orders.
  • Ensure that food and service meet quality control and Cactus standards.
  • May participate in the selection of kitchen partners and assist in the development of policies, procedures and budgets.

Educational Requirements
  • Working towards or completion of secondary school. Food Safe certificate is considered an asset.

Previous Experience
  • Previous employment as a cook and several years of experience in the hospitality industry is required.

Skills
  • Excellent communicator, self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability. Professional, principled and positive. A people developer with a knack for problem solving and quick decision making.

Language
  • Written and spoken English is required.
