What will you be doing as the Finance Officer?


The Finance Officer will focus on the financial administration of Pride Toronto's finance department, creating best practices and standard reporting mechanisms.

Based on the nature of this role, the Finance Officer may need to work weekends and evenings outside of regular work hours to support events planned throughout May and June.

All Pride Toronto Summer Students must be available to work Pride Festival Weekend (June Pride Festival Weekend is full of performances, art and parades celebrating the 2SLGBTQI+ communities.

No matter their role, all members of the Pride Toronto team support the Pride Festival through various operational and programming tasks that ensure the events are safe, fun, and memorable.


Other responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the processing and balancing transactions through accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Allocation of expenses in proper cost accounting category.
  • Digital organization of all cost accounts, paper invoices, online storage of accounts payable and accounts receivables.
  • Participate in ensuring proper adherence to financial policy, control, and confidentiality.
  • Assist in analyzing processed financial information, including balancing of accounts, monthly reconciliations, and grant reporting.
  • Ensure Federal/Provincial requirements are met.
  • Support Finance Manager with the cash flow over Festival Weekend
  • General financial, administrative support.
  • Ensure following all Covid19 safety protocols.
  • Always represent Pride Toronto in a positive manner.
  • Other tasks as assigned

What are we looking for?

  • Qualifications and skills required of the role.
  • Youth between years of age (by the end of the contract)
  • Minimum one year of customer service experience
  • Highly organized and experienced with MS Office, Google platform
  • Strong communication skills
  • Commitment to environmental sustainability
  • Knowledge and understanding of the 2SLGBTQI+ community
  • Demonstrated administrative background
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • This position requires you to work from our office Mondays to Fridays either between 9:00am5:00pm or 10:00am6:00pm.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for meetings and events (lieu time provided to be provided for hours worked)
