Cashier/stocker

29th Street Market is a medium-sized family-owned grocery store in Battleford, SK We are looking to add a friendly and hard-working member to our team This position is for a part-time (2-4 shifts a week) cashier/stocker.

Typical shifts are from 5pm-10pm, 4-10pm, 3-10pm, or sometimes 2-10pm. (Some weekend availability preferred).

Since we have a smaller team, each team member is expected to fulfill both cashier and stocker roles.

Depending on the shift (and potentially which position you prefer) you will be asked to complete either the Cashier tasks OR the Stocker tasks.

Responsibilities of Cashiers & Stockers:

• Accurately processing transactions (accurate scanning of merchandise, issuing correct change, accurate handling of cash, correctly processing debit/credit cards, etc.)
• Bagging or boxing merchandise for customers
• Responsible and accurate selling of Lottery and Tobacco products
• Safe and accurate restocking of product shelves (produce, pop, chips, milk, bread, etc.)
• Assist customers in taking groceries to their vehicles, upon request
• Fulfilling daily housekeeping tasks (sweeping/mopping floors, dusting items, keeping products frontfacing and organized, sanitizing commonly touched surfaces, etc.)
• Keeping workspace clean and organized

Qualifications for Cashiers/Grocery Clerks

• Some cashier experience (preferred)
• Available to work afternoons and/or evenings
• Ability to safely lift boxes that weigh up to 3040 pounds
• Ability to engage in repetitive hand movements, stand in similar positions for long periods of time
• Ability to frequently move from a bent position to standing position to unpack boxes
• Attention to detail, ability to maintained focus
• Excellent time management skills
• Ability to work in a fastpaced environment
• Ability to work independently in slower paced environments
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Motivated to maintain high standards in completing repetitive daily tasks
• Basic math skills

Job Types:
Part-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: 10-25 per week

COVID-19 considerations:
Common surfaces are sanitized regularly, plexiglass partition at the cash register, social distance recommended between customers and staff

Experience:

• Cashiering: 1 year (preferred)
