Nokiiwin Tribal Council requires one (1) experienced, knowledgeable, and motivated
Community Care Advisor.

The Community Care advisor will work closely with Nokiiwin communities to develop systems, supports, and procedures that allow individuals with disabilities or health care needs to continue living in their community while receiving the care they need.


Summary of duties:

  • Engage Nokiiwin communities through engagement events, introduce communities to the findings from the Holistic Longterm Care Engagement Sessions Summary Report
  • Actively work with the Disabilities Steering Committee and provide updates to communities and
  • Nokiiwin Board of Directors.
  • Research the current landscape and best practices used by communities caring for people are aging or have disabilities.
  • Create and manage resources to support people who are aging or have disabilities, such as toolkits, checklists, handbooks for use by communities.
  • Provide general project coordination including managing expenditures, track deliverables and communicate with the funder on progress.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in a related field such as health care, social work, Indigenous studies, or administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of issues around disability, aging, and longterm care
  • Strong writing, communications, and planning skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to travel and work in Nokiiwin communities.
  • Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office
  • Fluency in Anishinaabe, knowledge and appreciation of Anishinaabe culture and heritage are assets.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
  • Successful completion of a Level 1: Police Criminal Reference Check
