This position is located at our sales and service dealership in Winnipeg, MB.

THE OPPORTUNITY


The Truck Sales Consultant will be responsible for selling new & used Class 8 and medium duty trucks while achieving and maintaining appropriate levels of gross profit, volume, and customer satisfaction.

This position offers our parts and shop services to customers; and evaluates trucks proposed for purchase, repossession, or trade-in and recommends purchase price and terms to the Sales Manager (or General Manager).

The Truck Sales Consultant also ensures that acquired vehicles are prepared for front line readiness, effectively and efficiently.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales Process:

  • Approaches, greets, and offers assistance or direction to any customer who enters the dealership showroom or sales lot.
  • Understands the terminology of the commercial truck business and keeps abreast of changes in product technology, incoming inventory, features, accessories, etc.
  • Provides thorough product information and demonstration to all prospects.
  • Assists customers in selecting a vehicle by asking questions and listening carefully to their responses. Suggests alternative vehicles if necessary.
  • Offers test drives to all qualified prospects. Follows dealership procedure to obtain proper identification from customer before test drive begins.
  • Exhibits a high level of commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Knows and understands equity and values, and is able to explain depreciation to the customer.
  • Writes complete sales orders and processes paperwork in accordance with established dealership policies.
  • Prepares sold units for customer delivery (i.e., ensures units are clean, > 50 liters of fuel, MVI Certification completed, and ensures all features are operational) prior to customer arrival.
  • Works closely with the truck sales administrator.
  • Adheres to floor day schedule; responsible for finding replacement if not available for assigned day.
  • Adheres to new and used truck inventory policies.

Delivery and Customer Relations:

  • Delivers vehicles to customers using walkaround presentation techniques, ensuring that the customer understands the vehicle's operating features, warranty, and paperwork.
  • Informs customers of standard factory warranty, available extended warranties and costs associated with them.
  • Identifies customer needs and opportunities that will produce additional sales
  • Prepares thoroughly for presentation of sales proposals.
  • Provides conscientious customer service including problem identification and concern resolution.
  • Becomes a welcomed visitor in the customer's place of business by providing a valueadded experience with regular customer visits.
  • Follows up on all postdelivery items and special requests to be sure that all customer expectations are met.
  • Introduces customers to service and parts department personnel to emphasize the quality and efficiency of service repairs and maintenance available in the dealership's service department.
  • Schedules first service appointment.
  • Maintains an owner followup system that encourages repeat and referral business and contributes to customer satisfaction.
  • Maintains a prospect development and followup system.
  • Maintains a professional business appearance.

Vehicle Purchase and Reconditioning:

  • Analyzes trucks presented for purchase, tradein, and repossession. Determines values based on blue book guide, market conditions, current auction results, and current inventory movement.
  • Monitors customer inventories, auctions, websites, and wholesalers for purchase opportunities.
  • Helps with the usedvehicle inspection process.
  • Works with the service department and body shop to ensure that vehicles are properly reconditioned on schedule.
  • Knows and understands the federal, provincial, and local laws which govern commercial truck sales

Planning and Productivity:

  • Works closely with Sales Manager to devise a strategic plan to:
  • Establish personal income goals that are consistent with dealership standards of productivity.
  • Review and analyze actions at the end of each month and year to determine how to better utilize time and marketing efforts effectively.
  • Maintains minimum sales training as established by Sales Manager.
  • Helps to keep the truck sales department neat and clean.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Uses online resources proficiently such as Prospector, E-Portal, SharePoint, Extranet and Vagus, as applicable.
  • Becomes familiar with and complies with the company's Health & Safety Manual. Reports any unsafe practices to a manager.
