Contract Instructor, On-campus Math Instructor

NAIT's Department of Continuing Education Academic Upgrading program is seeking a day contract instructor to teach a high school Math 10C course during the 12-week Spring term, May to July.

The course will be offered
daily in-person at the main campus for the full 12 weeks.


The Spring 2023 on-campus course will be delivered daily during the daytime within the classroom for 2 hours (12:00 - 1:50pm) between May 8 to July 28, 2023.

We are seeking an instructor who has experience in teaching the AB Math High School Education Learning Outcomes.

A contracted instructor must have a desire to maintain positive and professional interactions with adult learners at a variety of skill levels, ages, and backgrounds.

Instructors must also be able to engage students in interesting and innovative lessons within the classroom.

NOTE:

NOTE:

Those invited for an interview will be asked to do a short online demonstration lesson as part of the selection process.


Contract Instruction Deliverables:

  • Provide classroom instruction using an outcomesbased educational approach in a grade 10, grade 11 or grade 12 high school Math course.
  • Utilize appropriate educational technology for communications and course delivery
  • Prepare, create, and deliver lessons and activities that directly support the course Learning Outcomes in a classroom environment
  • Create and administer inperson assessments according to Learning Outcomes
  • Evaluate and assess student learning and performance
  • Maintain student attendance and other documentation as required
  • Liaise with the Academic Upgrading staff and colleagues to ensure content relevance, consistent delivery of course materials and testing across sections
  • Maintain professional ethical relationships with students and colleagues
  • Respond professionally to student issues and concerns
  • Seek feedback from students on instructional effectiveness

Skills & Abilities:

  • Energetic in leading and motivating students
  • Welldeveloped communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Excellent classroom management and instructional skills
  • Proficient in use of NAITsupported tools for online course delivery, including Moodle, Microsoft Teams, and/or WebEx
  • Ability to prepare, create, deliver, and modify virtual online course content to meet varying student learning needs; this may include synchronous and asynchronous delivery
  • Strong orientation to student success and satisfaction and empathetic to student needs
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Computer skills related to course delivery
  • Strong online technology skills
  • Strong understanding of AB High School English curriculum

Qualifications:

  • Related B.Ed. or B.Sc. degree preferred
  • Proficient in using learning technologies
  • Related instructional experience at the high school or postsecondary levels an asset
