The Youth Team Leader is responsible for a multi-disciplinary team supporting youth aged 16-18 years and their families, through intake, Family Service and Guardianship.

They will work collaboratively with the Youth Family Response Team Leader who supports youth aged 12-15 years and YOET the Youth Outreach and Empowerment Team.

The Team Leaders work across the Service Delivery Area (SDA) with community partners, CYMH, CYNS, and Youth Justice to ensure positive and meaningful connections are maintained for youth with their families.

This team covers the communities of Surrey, White Rock, Delta and Langley.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1.

Preferred Credentials:


  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care OR Master's Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare OR
  • Inservice Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular full working level SPO 2430 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA)
    OR:

  • NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
  • At least 2 years of jobspecific work experience.
  • Experience supervising staff.

Expanded Credentials:


  • Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field
    OR Bachelor's Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services field
    OR Master's level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field
    AFTER the completion of an unrelated Bachelor's Degree.

  • Minimum 1 year of related work experience and at least 2 years of jobspecific work experience OR At least 3 years of jobspecific work experience.
  • Experience supervising staff.

Human Services fields include:
Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology or Nursing.

Additional Experience Requirements:

  • Experience working with youth, aged years.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Preferred education credentials
    AND/OR in-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who hold a regular full working level SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA).
  • Eligible for delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA).
  • Currently hold full delegation (C6) under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA).
  • One (1) or more years of supervisory experience.
  • Applicants who selfidentify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.
  • One or more years working with youth involved in MCFD services

Please note:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
