CO-CHEF DE MISSION ROLE (Santiago and Paris)

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES


The key responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, participation in national events, public relations events, National Sport Organization Events, Games-related events, and the Games themselves.

This position involves a significant level of public relations responsibilities and requires a considerable commitment of leadership, time, and positive energy.

The CPC will cover all approved travel expenses to meetings, events, and the Games, in accordance with the CPC Travel and Expense Reimbursement policy.

The CPC will provide a pre-set honorarium for the role to cover all pre-agreed-upon engagements.

SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Co-Chef de Mission will report to the CPC Executive Team Pre-Games and at the Games.

  • Canadian Paralympic Team Role
  • Inspire, motivate, and mentor athletes and support team members.
  • A role model for the team.
  • Honour and support the NSO Games Plan and align with it to mitigate distractions within the Games environment.
  • Act as a supporting advocate and contributor that lends to the success of athletes and support teams at the Games.
  • Public Relations
  • Act as a principal spokesperson for the Team and participate in media activities managed by the CPC Communications and Brand Team.
  • Understand and convey the CPC key messages.
  • Represent and speak on behalf of CPC on predetermined topics.
  • Represent himself/herself in accordance with CPC values at all times.
  • Representation and Partner Activations
  • Participate in Medalist Celebrations at Canada Paralympic House, if required.
  • Attend and speak at meetings and events preGames and the Games with various external stakeholders, such as dignitaries, performance partners, corporate partners, and other key VIPs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Qualifications

  • Must require a variety of experiences and skills demonstrating the ability to lead, motivate, inspire, and foster team building.
  • Be a recognizable figure who has achieved a record of accomplishments AS AN ATHLETE in Paralympic Sport.
  • Have proven and demonstrated skills to be an effective communicator and act as an internal and external Games spokesperson on behalf of the CPC.
  • Understand and represent the overall vision, mission, and values of the CPC.
  • Knowledgeable about the CPC strategic framework, policies and issues related to Paralympic Games and Paralympic Sports.
  • Demonstrated excellent leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with athletes, coaches, and team officials in various previous capacities.
  • Understanding of the Quadrennial Plan for the Games, which includes the operational lines of communications and planning with the National Sports Organisations, Performance Partners, Organizing Committee, and other key groups.
  • Previous experience as a Paralympic Games supports team member and/or other international Games experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fastpaced environment with multiple demands of the stakeholders of the CPC.
  • Commitment to athletes to create an environment in which they can compete to the best of their abilities while achieving consistent podium successes
  • Demonstrated commitment to mentoring other key athletes' roles within the team and to building future leaders beyond the field of play.
  • Commitment to support and promote a safe and inclusive environment and Team Culture.
  • Commitment to other team members, beyond athletes, to create an environment where they can execute their roles distractionfree.
