The Opportunity


The Transit Branch of our Public Operations department is seeking to fill a Casual Cemetery Services Representative position to manage all aspects of the operational administration of the City of St.

Albert Municipal Cemetery services.

This includes, but not limited to, communication, information, and marketing strategies, procurement and contract management, processing financial transactions, records management and customer service.


The key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring quality delivery of all marketing and communication projects.
  • Managing cemetery budget including all accounts payable and receivable
  • Providing necessary analytics and reports as required by the management team for development of short and longterm strategies.
  • Monitoring all electronic and nonelectronic correspondence and provide appropriate and timely responses.
  • Managing the procurement of all on and offsite cemetery inventory.
  • Interacting with clients regarding the sale of cemetery services as well as prepare appropriate contracts, arrange groundwork with municipal team, and coordinate monument procurement through private providers.
  • Maintaining detailed records relating to all plot sales and related services; and ensure records are kept in accordance with legal requirements.
The individual we seek is personable, empathetic, and can work independently and as part of a team.

We are looking for an individual with excellent time management skills and a good knowledge of the Cemetery Bylaw and Alberta Cemeteries Act to ensure compliance.


Qualifications

  • Completion of High school diploma. Degree or diploma from a recognized postsecondary institution would be an asset.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in an office administration role and one that involved customer interaction. Experience in cemetery operations would be an asset.
  • Workinglevel knowledge and skill with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Outlook and Excel will be required to utilize and maintain the City's cemetery administration software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
  • A valid Class 5 Drivers License and a personal vehicle for work use is required.

Hours of Work
You would typically work 40 hours biweekly. The biweekly work schedule will be Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Tuesday, Thursday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Some variation may be allowed or required.

Compensation
$ per hour. In addition, you would receive vacation and general/statutory holiday pay.
