The Associate Dean works consultatively with the Dean and the School's leadership team in the strategic planning process, formulating and implementing the vision of the School.

NATURE

&

SCOPE
At the School of Access and Continuing Education we learn together (lhulh whuts'odutel'eh). Since 2018 more than 13,000 students have completed credit and non-credit courses and programs through the School of ACE.

Our learners are diverse; many are first in the family to attend post-secondary education; almost one-fifth of students identify as Indigenous; ten percent are International; and a significant portion of ACE programs support students who have faced multiple-barriers to learning.

We offer a range of learning options:
in-person, online and hyflex programs (synchronous, online) and prioritize experiential learning, including work-integrated learning.

Our students have full lives and to meet their learning needs we offer daytime, evening, and weekend programs, across six campuses.

As an educational administrator, the Associate Dean reports to the Dean and has associated responsibilities for the management, guidance, and direction of programs and courses within the school.

There are approximately 50 full-time and part-time faculty across six campuses for programs including Academic Upgrading, English Language, Post-Diplomas in Human Resources Management, Tourism and Hotel Management, and Information Technology; certificate programs in Nursing Unit Assistant and Bookkeeping; and associate certificate programs in Medical Device Reprocessing and Medical Office Assistant.

The Associate Dean will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day operational management of these programs, courses and services.

The School of Access and Continuing Education has multiple funding sources, including government contracts, contract and customized training services and publicly-funded course offerings.

We operate on a cost-recovery budget of approximately $4 million per annum.

The AD will be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our learners.

The AD will promote a positive work atmosphere by interacting and communicating in a professional manner that demonstrates mutual respect with students and colleagues.
