About the Opportunity:


Under the supervision of the Spiritual & Religious Care services, the Summer Garden Student is responsible for the maintenance of the Garden of Peace at St.

Martha's Regional Hospital.

Specific duties include:

  • Prepare garden and soil; includes composting and planting
  • Maintenance of soil and plants i.e., watering and weeding garden
  • General up keep and maintenance of the garden i.e., keeping the area clean, and free from litter

About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Must be returning as a full-time student during the next academic school year
  • Must be a student in a secondary, postsecondary, vocational or technical program
  • Is between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and refugee Protection Act
  • Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
  • Preference will be given to applicants currently enrolled in a horticulture program
  • Experience in gardening is an asset
  • Commitment to maintain and protect patient, client, and personal safety on an ongoing basis
  • Commitment to confidentiality and privacy of NSH patients and clients
  • Annually access training and education on patient, client and personal safety made available by NSH
  • The successful applicant will have a commitment to the mission and values of St. Martha's Regional Hospital and Nova Scotia Health

Hours:

  • Short Assignment, Fulltime / 100% FTE / 75 Hours Biweekly
  • May 2024 to August 2024, approximately 3 months

Compensation and Incentives:

$ $17.25 Hourly
