JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
St.

Leonard's Community Services offers a continuum of social housing services to meet client needs ranging from homelessness to independent living.

As part of the continuum, Station House provides a 7-bed facility offering shelter and support for young people, both males and females, who are between 15 and 17 years of age.

Station House works with individuals who are precariously housed or at risk of homelessness and provides them with a full spectrum of social, health and recreational services on site and through referrals to other St.

Leonard's Community Services programs or community agencies.

As a Support Counsellor, you will:

  • Assist with established Support Plans, tracking and statistical reporting;
  • Help clients develop the skills and resources they need to enhance their social functioning;
  • Tour the facilities to ensure the residences, clients and grounds are safe and secure and take corrective action;
  • Monitor, distribute and document medication;
  • Prepare meals/snacks for clients and replenish kitchen supplies for meals;
  • Work collaboratively with the Station House team to ensure program delivery to all youth clients.

Hours of work:
Sunday to Thursday, 4 pm-12 am

Contract ends:
March 29, 2024

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS

Hourly wage range:
$19.47 to $22.10 plus shift premiums

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Have a college diploma in the Human/Social Services field
  • Have a minimum of 1year combined student placement and/or paid experience working with youth with substance use, mental health and/or homeless issues
  • Be proficient in MS Office and be familiar with databases
  • Have access to reliable transportation
  • Be able to manage frequent exposure to direct and vicarious traumatic stress
