We are seeking a senior security professional for the role of Physical Security Portfolio Architect who is responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing the implementation of comprehensive physical security solutions to protect an organization's facilities, assets, and personnel. This role requires a deep understanding of physical security principles, technologies, and best practices. In collaboration with our Physical Security team, Information Services teams, and IS business partners you will be a part of the Cybersecurity Office responsible for ensuring the safety and resiliency of physical security operations at TC Energy.

The role is based in our Calgary, AB office, but allows for remote work, so candidates from any province or state where TC Energy operates are welcome to apply.

What you'll do

  • Work with Physical Security team to develop requirements to help meet their business goals.
  • Create and maintain a holistic view of TC Energy's physical security overall architecture, including underlying infrastructure, network and IoT layers
  • Evaluate and specify physical security technologies, and processes required to meet the organization's requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Physical Security team to create a future state Architecture and associated implementation roadmap for the physical security landscape.
  • Understand the placement, features and functionality of technology and processes that comprise TC Energy's physical security architecture and the threats and risks they mitigate.
  • Work with the IS business partner in developing business cases to roadmap initiatives
  • Advise and oversee the implementation and deployment of physical security solutions across the organization's facilities and ensure seamless integration of physical security architecture
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of the physical security architecture portfolio, identifying areas for optimization and improvement
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant physical security and cybersecurity regulations, standards, and best practices
  • Provide technical and non-technical leadership and physical security consulting to operational and project teams facilitating strategic business outcomes with safe, secure, and resilient solutions
  • Research and maintain an extensive knowledge base of current physical security technology advancements, trends and directions to influence future physical security capabilities and continuously enhance TC Energy's security posture
  • Build relationships throughout the organization as a trusted partner for delivering business outcomes

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Security, Engineering, or a technical certification in a related discipline
  • 10+ years of related work experience working in physical security design and implementation in the (IT) Information Technology and OT (Operational Technology) domains
  • Knowledge of, or hands-on experience with operational technology solutions and systems that interact with the physical environment, such as ICS, building automation, physical access control systems, IoT, video surveillance systems, intrusion detection systems, perimeter security systems, operational technology (OT) cybersecurity systems, network security, network design and operations, etc.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following Physical Security industry certifications: ASIS - PSP, ASIS-CPP
    • Current designation would be considered an asset
  • Familiarity with one of more of the following Cybersecurity Architecture standards: NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, CSA Z246.1, TSA PSG, CIS CSC, ISA/IEC 62443
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following Physical Security regulations and standards: CSA Z246, TSA Pipeline Security Guidelines
  • Strong analytical, investigative, problem-solving and communications skills are important for success in this role
  • Energetic individual who is passionate and outcome focused with the ability to learn and adapt quickly to changing environments and priorities
  • Strong presentation skills are instrumental to influencing TC Energy's physical security architecture. This includes excellent written and oral communication paired with the ability to deliver technical concepts to an audience in a clear in concise manner. Success is determined if the audience understands and is ultimately compelled to act

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with Genetec Security system, or similar platform.
  • Hands-on experience with Surveillance products. (Cameras, Intercoms, Radar detection systems, Vibration and intrusion sensors, etc.)
  • Experience architecting physical security solutions in OT/ICS environment based on Purdue model
  • Strong interpersonal skills, professional demeanor and demonstrated ability to work cross functionally with stakeholders at multiple levels
  • Industry recognized certifications such as PSP, CPP or other industry recognized cybersecurity certification would be a plus
