The position is responsible for ensuring that the department processes are conducted according to standard accounting practices and that proper financial controls in place in each operating area of the department.

The incumbent is also responsible for providing related financial and operational information to the different areas serviced by the department.


Temporary 7-month replacement

  • RESPONSIBILITIES _
  • Provides financial and operational information, data, KPI and reports, as well as analytical support, for "Order-ToCash" processes, such as sales, freight, claims, and inventory management.
  • Accounts payable overseer and reconciliation owner.
  • Optimize, understand, and automate the cycle of pricing. Provide trends and pricing analytics.
  • Provides visibility of profitability such as implementation of sales dashboard and monthly reporting.
  • Performs analysis and develops tools related the department processes and transactions to assist in business decision making processes.
  • Identify accounting issues and control weaknesses based on standard accounting practices and Company standards and propose new processes and controls to mitigate the risks.
  • Investigate data discrepancies issues, work to identify and correct the source and/or cause.
  • Responsible for supporting audits for the revenue cycle.
  • Improve the budget and forecasting process by working with our internal clients.
  • Collaborate with IT department for new projects and tools related to sales administration.
  • Assist mills with individual audit requests (as invoicing/sales recorded within the order to cash system at head office)
  • Create a control/process for inventory management. Implement and supervise annual audits of all inventories with external warehouses. Reconcile and proactively solve any discrepancies.
Month end

  • Control months end scheduled jobs dates.
  • Convey to internal departments to target closing timeline.
  • Validate the complete and accurate capture and processing of sales accounting transactions for month end closing data integrity.
  • Ensure all financial data is posted to the GL for month end closing (correct, update when necessary)
  • Issue monthly reports (exchange rate)
Year end

  • Validate the complete and accurate capture and processing of sales accounting transactions and accruals for yearend closing.
  • Physical inventory count and control for all mills and fix any discrepancies with our system.
  • Participate in the preparation of work files for year end.
  • Review of GL balances.
  • Review system date setups.
  • Document key control evidence to support annual external audit.
  • Prepare the work files for annual audit and special audits (two per year)
  • Respond to various requests concerning audits.
  • Review/validate processes and procedures with auditors.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University education
  • CPA, CMA or similar certification is an asset.

EXPERIENCE

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in financial or management accounting, preferably in a similar role.
  • Knowledge and experience of accounting and ERP systems (SAP a major asset).
