The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada is looking for a full-time
Social Media & Communications Specialist to drive our strategic social media engagement, build awareness of our communications channels and activities, and support the organization's web, digital, and multi-media initiatives across multiple intra-organizational projects
.



Major Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities will include:
- _

  • Work with the Communications Team and other department leads to produce strategic social media campaigns that support a wide variety of projects and programming
  • Monitor, moderate, and respond to daytoday comments and/or questions on social media channels and platforms
  • Provide reporting on media and social media analytics on a weekly and monthly basis, and for reporting documents to the Government of Canada
  • Grow online audiences and user engagement for APF Canada's CanadainAsia Conferences (CIAC), Canada-Asia Sustainability Tracker (CAST), Asia Watch, the APEC-Canada Growing Business Partnership (ACGBP), and other established and emergent initiatives
  • Create compelling audiovisual content (i.e. edited photos, graphics, videos, podcasts, etc.) for APF Canada's online and social media platforms
  • Oversee the ongoing development and curation of APF Canada's secondary websites, including for CIAC and the ACGBP (Wix CMS)
  • Publish online content for APF Canada's primary website (Drupal CMS)
  • Stay up to date on and utilize emerging social media technologies and features
  • Propose new ideas and concepts for enhanced social media and website graphic content
  • Participate in web design meetings and processes and ensure esthetic complementarity between APF Canada's website and social media platforms

Desired Skills and Abilities
Successful applicants will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • University or technical institute degree or advanced diploma in communications, graphic design, new/digital media, or a related field
  • 2+ years experience working on business social channels and engaging with audiences online
  • Must be fluent in English with exceptional verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in French is an asset
  • Expert knowledge of popular social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and WeChat, as well as other dashboards and platforms like Hootsuite, Survey Monkey, and Mail Chimp
  • Proficient with social media analytics
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
  • Proficient with video and audio editing for web and social media
  • Familiar with HTML and content management systems (Drupal, Wix)
  • Independent, organized, and a good team player with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Creative personality with an eagerness to learn
  • Professional, tactful, and mindful of tonality for different audiences and stakeholders

Eligibility

Applicants should be eligible to work in Canada and have a university or technical institute degree or advanced diploma in communications, new/digital media, or a related field. The successful applicant will work out of Vancouver, B.C., on a
Hybrid Schedule (two days on-site / three days off-site) at APF Canada's Vancouver office, Monday to Friday, during regular office hours, five days a week.

Compensation
Compensation for this role is an annual base salary, which will be determined commensurate with experience and expertise.


APF Canada also offers a comprehensive extended health benefits package including but not limited to vision and dental care, paramedical services, telemedicine, Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) and Employee & Family Assistance Program (E&FAP).
