Daily Responsibilities:


Reporting to the District Director of Operations, the Pharmacy Manager will oversee the daily operations of the pharmacy while also working to their full scope of practice to optimize patient health and wellness.

The pharmacy manager will lead, coach and motivate staff while holding responsibility for the pharmacy's financial and operational achievements.

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of pharmacy
  • Ensure that that staff are properly supported in their patient care functions
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to communicate and implement new/existing policy and procedures
  • Responsible for the training and orientation of new employees
  • Actively seeks out new and innovative ways to improve processes
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the front store team to identify patient care opportunities
  • Manage P&L statements and attain target metrics (including but not limited to labour, inventory and expense control)
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and territorial regulations governing pharmacy practice
  • Determine appropriateness of drug therapy
  • Monitor medication therapy for effectiveness, adverse reactions, and interactions
  • Counsel patients regarding prescriptions, OTC products, and health related issues
  • Answer questions from patients that require therapeutic knowledge, clinical analysis, or assessment
  • Provide clinical services as appropriate for eligible patients
  • Administer injections/immunizations as needed
  • Promote health and wellness by providing education on disease prevention, lifestyle modifications, and medication adherence
  • Collaborate with team members and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care outcomes
  • Engage in continuous professional development; keeps knowledge and professional skills up-to-date

Education and Experience:

  • Licensed and in good standing with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP)
  • Successful completion of ACP's Licensee Education Program (Part A & B)
  • Injection certification is a must
  • Additional prescribing authorization is an asset
  • Kroll experience is preferred
