We are currently looking for a Early Learning Facilitator to join our team of committed professionals. This part-time position within the Association is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario's Durham location in Sudbury .

Under the leadership of the Supervisor of Child, Youth and Family Development (CYFD), the Early Learning Facilitator is responsible for the health, safety and well-being of the children in their care (0 to 12 years. The Early Learning Facilitator will ensure all YMCA Policies, Procedures and legislations as outlined in the Ministry of Education's Child Care Early Year Act are complaint at all times.

START DATE: As soon as possible

LOCATION: Sudbury, ON

RATE OF PAY: TBD

HOURS: Variable

Major Responsibilities

  • Provide effective supervision of children at all times to ensure their overall health, safety and well-being
  • Complete attendance as children arrive and depart and conduct regular head counts
  • Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality educational programming, by following the YMCA's National curricula's, YMCA Playing to Learn, A Place to Connect , YMCA Zen-energy and Healthy Childhood Development, i.e., program planning, documentation, and health and safety reports/checklists, assess and track the children's skills, abilities, interests and needs through written documentation and open communication with families and approved community partners
  • Conduct opening and closing safety scans of the environment before the children arrive and at the end of the day (indoors and outdoors)
  • Record and track (live) the attendance of the children as they arrive and depart, always matching the children in care at all times

Qualifications

  • Two-year diploma or degree related to children, youth, recreation or physical literacy
  • Membership and in good standing with your affiliated professional College
  • Public Health's Food Safety Handlers Course
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR (Level C) *Recognized by the WSIB
  • Specialized training and/or experience with children with specialized needs is considered an asset
  • Certification in YMCA curricula's: YMCA Playing to Learn, A Place to Connect
  • Minimum of two (2) years working with children and/or youth
  • Solid knowledge of the Child Care & Early Years Act, 2014 (CCEYA)
  • Ministry Director Approved (DA) only: Able to coach, mentor and support Early Learning Assistant, Early Learning Facilitator and placement students as required
  • Flexible working hours, able to work split shifts, early morning, mid-late afternoons, evenings Monday to Friday, weekends, or as per the centre's operational hours
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Bilingualism is considered an asset)
  • Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with compassion, sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of everyone including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity
  • Capacity to work within a team and be part of a large multi-service, charitable Association
  • Knowledge of child care operations considered an asset
  • Current and satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
