We have an exciting opportunity for an individual who embraces and models person-centred approaches to join our team as a Support Worker.
This position makes a difference in the lives of individuals experiencing disability.Duties and responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Coordinators, Senior Supervisor, and other Support Workers to facilitate meaningful, highquality individual and group programs and activities.
- Promote independence, selfesteem, and inclusion in the areas of selfcare, communication, recreation, socialization, and participation.
- Provide supportive assistance to ensure the physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of participants.
- Provide supervision of participants while participating in community and/or incentre activities.
- Transport participants to community activities.
- Promote, instruct, and model acceptable social behaviour.
- Maintain participant documentation according to agency standards including completion of Incident Reports, contact records and file recordings, and contributing to and reviewing personcentred plans to ensure goals are being met.
- Maintain participant records including attendance and _MyCompass_ with families and caregivers.
- Administer all areas of personal care, as required.
- Maintain cleanliness of program areas including kitchen space and washroom.
Qualifications:
- Disability Support Worker Certificate (Rehabilitation Worker Certificate) or Life Skills Coach and/or related training and experience working with individuals of varying abilities and behaviours.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
- Effective time management, organization, and problemsolving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to be innovative, openminded, and creative.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to express ideas and information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Knowledge of lifting techniques and transfers.
