Temporary Full-time Schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off, followed by 5 days on and 3 days off

The Laundry Aide plays a crucial role within our communities as it directly impacts the lives of residents and fosters meaningful human connections.

As a Laundry Aide, your typical day will make a difference in the following ways:

  • - Providing clothing and linen support services by ensuring collection, distribution, processing, and inventory of linens and personal clothing.
  • - Sorting linens, loading and unloading washers and dryers, ironing, and mending as needed.
  • - Folding, sorting, and loading linen and clothing onto carts for distribution and delivery, and auditing linen for labels and repairs.
  • - Disposing of and documenting inappropriate inventory when necessary.
  • - Upholding high sanitation standards, maintaining a clean and organized work area and equipment, applying appropriate infection control protocols, adhering to cleaning schedules and routines, and ensuring the proper care and efficient use of resources.
  • - Monitoring machine operations and reporting malfunctions to the team leader.
  • - Assisting in the upkeep of laundry facilities, equipment, and supplies.
  • - Completing cleaning tasks as designated in the laundry room area.
  • - Ensuring a clean, safe environment for residents using infection control principles.
  • - Contributing to and engaging in quality initiatives by offering input and suggestions for enhancement, and providing feedback to the immediate team leader.
  • - Performing other assigned duties.

Must-haves:

  • - Secondary school graduate or equivalent.
  • - Knowledge related to infection control, cleaning practices, housekeeping operations, and equipment.
  • - Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team.
  • - Effective communication skills with team members and residents.
  • - Successful completion of the prescribed Criminal Records Check (applicable to British Columbia applicants).

Bonus points for having:

  • - Previous experience in Institutional Cleaning/Laundry within Long Term Care or Retirement Residence is advantageous.

Wage Leveling: Starting pay rate of $24.34 per hour until the end of wage leveling, then the pay rate will align with the collective agreement pay rates signalized by a starting rate of $16.01 per hour.
