Commissionaire - Level 5

LOCATION:1 Canadian Division HQ - CFB Kingston

HOURS OF WORK:24/- 8 & 12-hour shifts

RATE OF PAY:
$20.47 per hour

JOB SUMMARY:


To be in a Security Guard position, responsible to the Commissionaire Site Supervisor for the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of security at 1 Can Div HQ, CFB Kingston.


REQUIRED SKILLS:

- must have excellent interpersonal communication skills,
- ability to communicate in a calm and confident manner when dealing with staff, military visitors, contractors, or the general public,
- ability to interact with the client in a concise and professional manner,
- must possess excellent written communication and computer skills, including experience with all Microsoft products i.e. Word, Excel, Access and Outlook,
- must have a comprehensive knowledge of client buildings including all locations and building layouts,
- ability to work as part of a team or independently.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Represent the Commissionaires and the client professionally at all times,
  • Provide information to unit staff, military visitors, and general public, as required,
  • Routinely interact with staff, outside military members, Defense contractors and representatives, civilian contractors, and the general public,
  • Control the issuing and receiving of keys, as well as maintaining, auditing, and enforcing key control procedures, as required,
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations including contacting and interacting with all forms of emergency services personnel,
  • Be familiar with alarms and procedures associated with site/building security,
  • Maintain various access lists, logs, and registers, as required,
  • Provide counter service, as required,
  • Conduct foot/vehicle patrols, as required,
  • Generate appropriate security reports, as required,
  • Maintain a dialogue with the Site Supervisor at all times,
  • Must read and follow site instructions & SOPs,
  • Observe and report any broken or malfunctioning doors, windows or locks and make note of such items in the daily Guard Report,
  • Ensure all doors are free from obstructions and that all exit signs are illuminated,
  • Generate and submit Incident Reports and daily Guard Reports to the Site Supervisor, and
  • Perform any other required security related duties, as detailed by the Site Supervisor and/or client.

REQUIRED SECURITY CLEARANCE:

Level 2.
