Location:10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton

Hours of work:35 hours per week

As an integral member of the Clerk's Division. you will support the Region of Peel's Privacy and Access to Information Program.

In this role you will be responsible for responding to access requests made under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA) and other applicable legislation.


What you will do in this role:

  • Liaise with internal custodial departments to aid them in identifying responsive documents and coordinate the transfer of responsive documents related to the access request
  • Solicit views from the internal department on the disclosure of responsive documents
  • Clarify access requests with requesters as required
  • Identify voluminous requests and negotiate with requesters to reduce the size and complexity of a request
  • Draft and revise decision letters on access requests
  • Identify requests requiring transfers to other institutions and/or thirdparty notices and process the request within legislated timeframes
  • Provide advice and guidance with respect to the protection, collection and disclosure of personal information and/or personal health information.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of training and awareness programs
  • Identify and maintaining Personal Information Banks (PIBs) as required by MFIPPA legislation
  • Assist in the production of the annual report to the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario
  • Maintain electronic/physical records life cycle according to the Records Retention By-Law
  • Participate on Regional Committees and task forces as assigned
  • Provide divisional backup support as needed

What the role requires:

  • Successful completion of a postsecondary degree or diploma required, preferably in the area of public administration, law or political science, or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Minimum two (2) years municipal government experience, preferably in the Clerk's division, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Proven ability to interpret applicable Municipal, Provincial and Federal legislation and regulations and familiarity with Corporate Policy development
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the Personal Health Information Protection Act

In this role you will have the ability to work mostly remote. You will be required to occasionally attend on-site meetings based on operational requirements at the

10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton worksite. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
